Teen Library Intern- accepting applications now!

Looking for a summer job where you can gain real-world experience, leadership skills, and more? Check out the Teen Library Internship!

This is a paid position and there are 3 openings.

This cohort will run from May 15 to August 11 (off 5/30-6/2).

Interns will work 15 hours per week (up to 5 hours from home).

There are 2 required days/times onsite per week. While school is in session, they are: Mondays from 4:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. Required days/times onsite during summer are: Mondays and Wednesdays, times to be determined based on availability.

Sustainable is Attainable

Sustainable Fashion Presentation and Clothing Exchange

The Teen Library Interns invite you to learn about sustainable fashion and participate in a clothing exchange. Learn about the history of repurposing textiles and clothing and the importance of sustainable fashion and how it effects the environment. Participation is optional for the clothing exchange taking place immediately after the presentation.

This program is free and appropriate for all ages. Registration required.

Register here to attend the presentation and to participate in the clothing exchange. Clothing exchange guidelines will be sent to you upon registration.

This program is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library.

Guidelines for the Clothing Swap:

  • Bring up to five items of clothing to swap.
  • Absolutely no accessories or undergarments.
  • All clothing must be washed.
  • Any age range of clothing is allowed and encouraged.
  • There will be donation bins for clothing not swapped.

A New Craft Kit Appears!

The Mission Viejo Library wants you to create art and no experience is required! Teens are invited to pick up a Bad Art Kit and come up with beautiful, thought provoking pieces of fine art using random stuff we found in our craft room!

Kits are available upon request and can be picked up during the library’s curbside service hours (Tuesday through Saturday, 12pm to 5pm). When you’re done, take a picture of your incredible creations and send it to libraryprograms@cityofmissionviejo.org!”

Virtual Pumpkin Decorating!

Hi everyone!

Your Teen Librarian here! It goes without saying that 2020 has been more than a crazy year. We’ve had to stop doing the things we’d normally like to do and as we enter the autumn season, that means our Halloween plans are probably going to change. But that doesn’t mean we can’t show off our creativity!

The Mission Viejo Library’s Teen Voice Blog and the Teen Advisory Board are hosting a Virtual Pumpkin Decorating activity! Whether you’re drawing faces with markers and gluing on googly eyes or carving unique masterpieces, we want to see what you come up with!

Here’s how it works:

Decorate a pumpkin, take a picture, and email it to libraryprograms@cityofmissionviejo.org!

We’ll be accepting photos from October 19th through October 30th!
