Theodore Boone: The Kid Lawyer

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer - Kindle edition by Grisham, John. Children Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

Theodore Boone, a normal 13-year-old living in Strattenburg, is just like any other kid. He’s smart, polite, and a little bit undecided about his future career. However, Theodore Boone is a very lucky teenager, because he has the title that no one else in Strattenburg possesses. Theodore Boone is a KID LAWYER.

Theo is an only child with 2 parents who are both lawyers. His dad is a real estate lawyer, while his mom works as a divorce attorney. Ike, Theo’s uncle, used to work with Theo’s parents at the Boone and Boone law firm before some unfortunate incidents took away the license that allowed him to practice the law.

So, when Pete Duffy is accused of murder, Theo feels thrilled to get to watch another trial. He does what any kid who loves to watch trials would do: Try to skip school. When a friend at school comes up to Theo to tell him about a mysterious witness, Theo finds himself as an important part of the murder trial, too. Theo tries to help the star witness overcome his fears and attend the trial to make sure justice is served.

Theodore Boone: The Kid Lawyer is the first book of an exciting 7 book series. Each book contains a different mystery where Theo tries to take action. Sometimes, he finds himself in trouble, but other times, he finds himself being celebrated by others as a hero.

This novel shows how you have to work as a team to achieve goals. Theo knew what he had to do, but the mystery witness didn’t want to come out and tell what he saw, which made it harder for there to be a completely fair and honest trial.

Throughout this book and the rest of the series, Theo fights through his problems, while also advising his friends. He never puts himself over others, helping everyone succeed and be happy.

I would give this book a 10/10 rating because the author did a great job of including plot twists throughout the novel. Just as the trial seemed to be coming to a close, something significant would happen, creating more and more obstacles for the characters to get through. John Grisham did a great job including his knowledge of the law in this book. I learned a lot of different facts about the U.S. justice system as I was reading about Theodore Boone and the murder trial.

If you are interested in becoming a lawyer in the future, or if you just want to read about a thrilling murder mystery, this book would be a great read for you!

Book Review: Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer, by John Grisham

theodore_booneLawyers, lawyers, lawyers… paper, work, suits. Seems boring, right? Well, try reading Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer and your prospective of being a boring lawyer will change.

The story starts of as Theo is in school. He gets a grant from the judge to bring his class to the court to see a live session. Except… something is wrong. The side against Pete Duffy, the accused, has a very, very weak argument… Is there anything that anyone can do to help them?

First, let me tell you the story of Pete Duffy. Pete has an $1,000,000 price on his wife so that if she “accidentally” dies, he will get all the money. And then coincidentally, she is found strangled to death in their own house, the prime subject is Pete. But why would he kill his own wife… possibly for the money?

Now you know the story, but during the course of the book a twist occurs. A man saw something… this would change the whole game, the whole story. It will affect everyone, including Theo……It will be big.

I won’t spoil it for you guys but this is a great book to read, hopefully you can read it. They are also more stories, because this is a series.

Introduction to the Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer Series, by John Grisham

activist_coverAction, adventure, and excitement. The Activist, the fourth book in the Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer series by John Grisham has all this and more.

Grisham is known for his adult novels, such as The Firm and Pelican Brief. The Theodore Boone series is his first series for younger readers. These books are extremely well written, and keep your attention until the end. In this series, a boy named Theodore Boone, thirteen years old, has two parents who are lawyers. Theodore is an only child, and he also wants to be a lawyer when he gets older, so he helps his friends and family with small cases, while, in the meantime, a bigger problem is manifesting itself. For example, in the second book of the series, Theodore’s friend is kidnapped by her own father.

In The Activist, the most current book, Theodore is trying to stop a highway bypass from being built in his town that will cost two million dollars, and will pollute the air while cutting through a school, and a soccer field. The city council is also spending money on the bypass while eliminating important school programs. Theodore uses his skills to determine the illegal actions in which the city is engaging. In the meantime, Theodore is trying to help his friend because the bypass will be built on his friend’s family’s land.

This book series can be read by both boys and girls, but I would recommend that the minimum reading age be thirteen years old. I also recommend that you should read the whole series in order, as it will make reading more enjoyable. Overall, the Theodore Boone series is a great summer read, especially the fourth and most recent one.  This is definitely a series everyone should check out.
